A very common, tufted perennial grass (loose-dense tufts)
Soft hairy plant, easily distinguished by its greyish-green colour and broader leaves
Normally considered as a weed, especially in lawns
Does have some value for meadows and grazing though (especially on poorer soils)
Found naturally in the UK, in old pastures, meadows, grassland, wasteland, woodland etc
Grows on the majority of soils, sandy soils to loams, dry and wet soils etc
Also known as Tufted Soft Grass, Meadow Soft Grass or Velvet Grass
Flowers May-August
20-100 cm in height
